About

My name is Erik Huter, and I was born in Derby, Kansas. I am currently a sophomore attending Kansas State University. My primary major is mathematics and my secondary major is statistics. I am on the pre-graduate and actuarial track for mathematics. I love to learn and working on projects to increase my knowledge in various subject areas. My career aspirations and interests include actuarial work, data science, or pursuing research in mathematics. I am open to other career opportunities as I have not definitely decided what I plan to do in the future.

Education

I attended high school at Derby High School in Derby Kansas. I had a 4.00 unweighted GPA 4.55 weighted GPA. I was a Kansas Governor Scholar which is awarded to the top 1% of Kansas high school students. I was one of two students at Derby High School to receive a mathematics departmental award. I have completed the CS50X through Harvard and this website was my final project. I currently have a 4.00 GPA at K-State. The summer of 2024 I completed the summer undergraduate mathematical and statistical accelerator program. SUMSA is an eight-week summer program where I developed mathematical maturity and collaboration skills. The program was hosted by IMSI at the University of Chicago. The program consisted of four classes, problem sessions, and weekly homework assignment. Topics covered were axiomatic probability, linear algebra, regression, and analysis. Developed mathematical collaboration skills with a diverse group of students from all over the United States.

Interests

After taking my first computer science I have been craving to learn more about the subject. I am planning to begin CS50W and CS50P to learn more about creating websites and develop my Python programming skills further. Data science is also of interest to me, I have begun working with SQL and R to introduce myself to the field. I was in DECA in my senior year of high school and placed second at the state meet to qualify for the International Career Development Conference in Orlando. I am currently a member of Math Club at K-State and aspire to be an ambassador for the mathematics department for K-State.

Current Classes

These are the classes I am taking at K-State during the 2024 Fall Semester.
